Co-curricular Activities

At Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector-23A, Chandigarh (GMSSS-23A, CHD), we believe that true education extends beyond the boundaries of textbooks and classrooms. Co-curricular activities form an integral part of our educational philosophy, helping students discover their talents, build confidence, and develop the essential life skills needed for success in the 21st century.

Our school is committed to providing a holistic learning environment where students are encouraged to participate actively in a wide range of academic, cultural, social, and sporting activities. Along with achieving excellence in academics, we nurture creativity, leadership, discipline, teamwork, and a sense of responsibility through meaningful and engaging experiences.

Throughout the academic session, the school organizes numerous co-curricular programmes, including debates, declamations, quiz competitions, science and mathematics exhibitions, art and craft exhibitions, music and dance performances, drama, creative writing competitions, yoga sessions, sports meets, athletics, environmental awareness campaigns, plantation drives, road safety programmes, health and wellness initiatives, literacy campaigns, NSS activities, community service projects, and celebrations of important national and international days.

Students are also encouraged to participate in inter-school, district-level, state-level, and national competitions conducted by the Chandigarh Education Department, CBSE, and various educational organizations. These platforms help students showcase their abilities, develop healthy competition, and gain valuable exposure beyond the classroom.

Our dedicated teachers mentor and guide every student to explore their interests through various clubs and enrichment programmes such as the Science Club, Eco Club, Literary Club, Mathematics Club, Cultural Club, Health & Wellness Club, Sports Club, and Innovation Activities. These initiatives promote experiential learning, critical thinking, communication skills, and collaborative problem-solving.

The school actively promotes environmental conservation, social awareness, and community engagement through cleanliness drives, tree plantation campaigns, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Fit India Movement, International Yoga Day, voter awareness programmes, blood donation awareness, and other community outreach activities. Such programmes instill values of compassion, patriotism, service, and responsible citizenship among students.

At GMSSS-23A, co-curricular activities are not merely extracurricular events—they are an essential component of our mission to develop well-rounded individuals who are academically competent, socially responsible, emotionally resilient, and ethically grounded. Through these enriching experiences, we prepare our students to become confident leaders, lifelong learners, and responsible citizens who contribute positively to society and the nation.
